Medicine Cabinet Makeover

anchor3This makeover wasn’t something I was planning on, but a routine trip to Ikea provided some inspiration. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again always check the “As Is” section at IKEA. I found this White Metal Medicine Cabinet for $5.00. Crazy! It was marked “Damaged and Scratched” coincidentally I couldn’t find a mark, and it came with 2 sets of keys. START THE CAR!

Grab your Cabinet (or makeover surface of choice)
Spray Paint
Masking Tape
Blocking Paper
Templateanchor1Tape down your template, and make sure all edges are lying flat to eliminate bleeding. Use your blocking paper to cover the rest of the surface that will remain unpainted, and to protect the surroundings. I’m a messy painter so this step just makes the fallout more manageable. If your surface is extra smooth give the area  a little run over with a piece of sandpaper, it gives the paint something to adhere to. Shake your spray paint well, and add a few thin coats of paint allowing each layer to dry in between coats.

anchor2Now hang this bad boy up in in your bathroom, or any room really. It holds loads and looks pretty wonderful. Did I also mention that it’s magnetic? Be still my heart.
