Dessert stands are basically taking over my kitchen, and I’m not even mad about it. This one is up there with my favourites. I caught a lucky break while thrifting and found these beautiful glass candlesticks, and this random bowl that happened to be the same colour. The plates are just a simple rounded square in varying sizes from Ikea.
2 Large/Medium sized Plates
1 Small sized Plate
2 Vintage Candle Sticks
1 Glass Bowl (this piece is optional as a base)
1 Tube of Glass bonding glue.
This base piece that I found was the perfect addition. However it’s not necessary, I’ve seen many completed with just the plate as the bottom of the stand. Nothing like being a little different, right?
Add a good amount of glue to the base of each piece and press together. Grab a heavy item to place on top to add pressure and create a solid bond. Let each portion dry before adding the next level from bottom to top. Also this glue is pungent, so head outside if you can!
When you place the candlesticks make sure the smallest end is facing down. As this is where you will be resting your desserts, it allows for the most space. Leaving the base end up creates a larger surface area for the next level to be positioned on.
If you craft your own stand, try to find some pieces that reflect your own style and personality. There is no need to match everything together, I just happened to go with it. Those candlesticks were my weakness.
